Florida State Fair 2013
February 13, 2013

Here are a few photos that we took while at the fair.

On Wednesday, February 13, 2013 we traveled to Tampa for the Florida State Fair.  This is a large fair but does not seem as large as the Big E.  There are not as many large buildings as the Big E has but the concerts are held inside where they are outside at the Big E.  This is the second year that we have gone to see the Country Gold Tour set up by Lee Roy Van Dyke of Walk on By and The Auctioneer Song fame.  Lee Roy is an auctioneer and actually sold a guitar signed by all the show participants for $3500 at this show.  The monies are donated to the local chapters of the Future Farmers of America and the 4H clubs.  He does this for every venue the show goes to.  This auction has raised over $130,000 for the clubs over the years.
The backup band for the concert is The Auctioneers which is Lee Roy's band.  His son plays lead guitar for the band.  The other guitar and steel guitar player is a college english professor from western Kansas when not playing in the band.
The show also included Helen Corneilus, T.Graham Brown, Jim Ed Brown and the Gatlin Brothers.  It was a great show that lasted over two hours.

Below are some pictures we took at the fair.  Some are of the concert and others from around the fair.  As is the case when we come to Tampa we make a trip to Brandon for dinner at Bucco di Peppo and also over to Costco for some of our wholesale club purchases.  We came out of Costco to a monsoon rainstorm.  Jack used some of his valet talents to run to the car without getting too wet.  It sort of worked.  He was dry by the time he got home.  All told it was a very enjoyable day and Jack getting a chance to get a picture of him and Lee Roy Van Dyke made it a super trip.
